French actor and director, Matthieu has been trained as an improvisor, fascinated by the act of creation. Teaching and performing improv, he has been travelling all over the world for more than 20 years.
He has co-managed during 10 years one of the most innovative french improv groups, Et Compagnie, and has grounded the Spontaneous festival in Lyon, which he directed until 2010.
In 2004, he founded his Compagnie Combats Absurdes, in order to direct improvised and scripted theater plays, which he still does and loves.
He started in 2010 a deep work dealing with the fundamental issue of «revealing what is already there». His improv technique, named Slow, engaging actors in their immediate surroundings with a physicality that Matthieu is renowned for, develop stories at a distinctly patient pace.
He is also member of the french improv group Amadeus Rocket, and has created the show No Exit with Lee White and Marko Mayerl.
